Why is it so difficult?

Japanese is what is known as a "High Context Language"

In fact it is arguably the HIGHEST High Context Language.

This means that Majority (between 60-80%) of ALL communication in Japanese is NON-VERBAL.

Wait, what?!

It doesn't matter if you have a JLPT N1 certification.

You could understand 100% of the literal meaning of the words and grammar being used and still understand less than 40% of what is actually being communicated.

It turns out that Japanese people have been speaking in levels of language, nuance, shared understanding, context and inference that most of the world is completely blind to.

To make things worse, Japanese Language programs do a very poor job of teaching the unspoken language of Japan.
